To kick off WAS*IS...
We are holding a dinner reception Sunday night beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the:

Boulder Residence Inn by Marriott - Main Building

The Daily Workshop Sessions will be held at:

NCAR Foothills Lab - Building 2 (FL2)

For a map of the NCAR locations, see the NCAR Map. We’ll begin each day at 8:20 a.m. For those staying at the Residence Inn, we’ll provide transportation between the hotel and FL2 (more details to come later). You also can walk between the hotel and FL2; according to Mapquest, it’s 0.81 miles.

We’ll also be having group dinners and evening sessions on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday either at NCAR or the Residence Inn. Again, we’ll provide transportation as necessary.

Ground Transportation between Denver International Airport (DIA) and the Residence Inn

The driving time between DIA and Boulder is approximately 1 hour but, of course, it can be longer if there is heavy traffic or if you are taking the shuttle.

Shuttle
Because we are not reimbursing for rental cars, most of you are taking the shuttle from Denver to Boulder. A good option is the Boulder Express. You can also take the Boulder Super Shuttle, but it is more expensive. See their websites for more information on making reservations.

For those of you who are driving, there is a toll and a non-toll option.

E-470 Tollway Option (3 tolls at $1.75 each or $5.25 total for a one-way trip):
1. From Peña Boulevard out of the airport, take the E-470 Tollway North exit toward Fort Collins
2. E-470 will turn into Northwest Parkway West. Keep going on this road (do NOT exit onto I-25)
3. As the Parkway ends, take the exit onto U.S. 36 west toward Boulder
4. Just before you get into Boulder, take the Foothills Parkway exit (this exit splits, so be sure to stay in the left lane to Foothills Parkway)
5. Follow Foothills Parkway to Valmont Road (just after the exit to Pearl Street) and turn left
6. From Valmont Road, take your next right onto Center Green Drive

Non-toll Option (via I-270)
1. From DIA, follow Peña Boulevard south to I-70 and exit onto I-70 west
2. Follow I-70 west to I-270 west.
3. I-270 merges into U.S. 36 west and takes you west toward Boulder
4. Just before you get into Boulder, take the right exit onto Foothills Parkway (this exit splits, so be sure to stay in the left lane)
5. Follow Foothills Parkway to Valmont Road and turn left
6. From Valmont Road, take your next right onto Center Green Drive

Parking
Parking is free at the NCAR Foothills Lab, so you may park anywhere. There are a few visitor spots right in front of FL2, but you do not have to use those.
