Kelsey Angle
Summer2008 WAS*IS

Kelsey Angle is a Forecaster with the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Springfield, MO. Kelsey is active on the GIS, Severe Weather Operations, Public, Aviation, Outreach, Spotter Training, Quality Control and Quality Assurance and Leadership teams. He is also a participant in the Department of Commerce Mentorship Program. He has completed National Incident Management Training and is a licensed amateur radio operator. Kelsey has also worked at the National Weather Service Forecast Office and the Central Pacific Hurricane Center at Honolulu, HI where he was the Storm Spotter and WSR-88D Focal Points. Kelsey has been honored with Service Awards at both offices and was a member of the staff awarded for a Bronze Emblem for severe weather warning and operations during historical flooding in Hawaii.

Prior to joining the National Weather Service, Kelsey was a meteorologist for KWCH-TV and KFDI-FM in Wichita, KS and KTKA-TV and KTPK-FM in Topeka, KS. Kelsey lead portions of live tornado coverage that was honored with a National Edward R. Murrow and 4 Regional Edward R. Murrow awards. Kelsey has been awarded the American Meteorological Seal of Approval.

Kelsey worked as a research assistant and manager of a NEXRAD level II tape library while obtaining his bachelor of science degree in meteorology at the University of Oklahoma. At NSSL, he acquired radar data of severe weather cases and scored algorithm analysis, detection and performance.

Kelsey has co-authored meteorological papers and presented at conferences. He is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society.
