Jared Guyer

Norman WAS*IS
April 2006

Jared Guyer photoI grew up on a farm in rural southeast Illinois, with a fascination for weather for as long as I can remember. I graduated from Valparaiso University in May 1999 with a B.S. degree. Upon graduation, I immediately began working with the National Weather Service (NWS) in La Crosse, WI. From there, I was a General Forecaster at NWS Hastings, NE for almost 3 years. Since August 2003, I have been a Mesoscale Assistant Forecaster at the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) in Norman, OK. My primary duties at SPC involve forecasting hazardous mesoscale phenomena, including severe convective storms, tornadoes, winter weather, and fire weather. My hobbies include softball, golf, storm admiration, and going to St. Louis Cardinals baseball games.
